The 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen gold and silver commemorative coins are to be issued

The People’s Bank of China is to issue a set of gold and silver commemorative coins for the 150th anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen on October 12th 2016. The set of coin consists of three coins, including a gold coin, a silver coin and a copper-aluminum alloy coin, all of which are the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.

 

I. Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins

 

i. Design of the coins

 

i）Obverse design

 

The gold and silver commemorative coins bear the common obverse of the National Emblem of the People’s Republic of China, the title of P.R.C. and the year date.

 

ii）Reverse design

 

The reverse of the 8g gold coin features the portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the words “The 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, 1866-2016” in Chinese and the face value.

 

The reverse of the 30g silver coin features the Former Residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen situated at Cuiheng Village of Zhongshan Municipality of Guangdong Province, the words “The 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, 1866-2016”in Chinese and the face value.

 

ii. Specifications and mintage of the commemorative coins

 

The 8g gold coin is proof in quality, 22mm in diameter, 100 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 8 grams of pure gold. The total mintage is 10000 pieces

 

The 30g silver coin is proof in quality, 40mm in diameter, 10 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 30 grams of pure silver. The total mintage is 20000 pieces.

 

iii. This set of gold and silver commemorative coins are minted by Shenzhen Guobao Mint Co., Ltd and Shanghai Mint Co., Ltd, and solely distributed by China Gold Coin Incorporation. For more information about the distribution channels please visit the website www.chngc.net.

 

II.Copper Aluminum Alloy Coin

 

i.Design of the coin

 

i) Obverse Design

 

The obverse of the coin features the Former Residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen situated at Cuiheng Village of Zhongshan Municipality of Guangdong Province, the title of the P.R.C, the words “The Former Residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen”in Chinese and the face value.

 

ii) Reverse Design

 

The reverse of the coin features the portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the words “The 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, 1866-2016”in Chinese.
